About us

Hailing from Boston, MA, the Darker Hues blend styles of 90's era indie and post hardcore with a hint of garage overtones.

The tongue-in -cheek motto "If they ain't doing it anymore, we are going to bring it back." sums up the group's ambition to reunite the passionate, edgy and sometimes chaotic beginnings of the post-hardcore genre.

"the Darker Hues offer a forcibly bent garage rock that's too cerebral for street punk and too aggro for indie. We Are The Darker Hues (2009) established the trio as an edgy post-hardcore voice, and their sophomore record is primed to be just as pushy." - MICHAEL MAROTTA

"'Nothing Tastes Like Failure' is a masterpiece, pure and simple. The Darker Hues have brought us a welcomed rarity in a time where new music of the genre comes few and far between. What could easily have been born in the 90's post punk era when bands like Hot Water Music, Braid and Sunny Day Real Estate ruled supreme, was delivered last Thursday at a packed Great Scott and with great anticipation from fans and newcomers alike."

Kind Words

This album comes complete with the craziness of noise rock, a refined indie sound and that little hint of Boston garage. This all amounts to a rare breed of post punk of days past, and one that is very welcomed in a genre that is played less and less these days.
